When we bought the farm in 1995 it was very run-down. Both the house and the 117 acres of land needed a vast amount of work. With the help of grants from the Welsh Assembly/EEC (Tir Gofal), the Forestry Commission and CADW we have been able to repair and restore nearly everything. We also converted the farm to organic in 2001.
Woodlands: our existing woods have been fenced to
prevent grazing and allow natural regeneration. Four and
a half acres of new woodland has also been planted and
nearly two and a half miles of hedge have been restored.
Arable: We grow organic spring cereals for seed, leaving
the stubble over the winter for seed eating birds. We
leave fallow strips for general wildlife while the crops
are growing.
Pasture: Most of the farm is permanent pasture, partly
grazed and partly managed as traditional hay meadows.
Book a Farm Visit to learn about our organic methods or just to come and see the wildlife. Visits by appointment only please. Visits priced according to group size and type, sometimes free - please ask.
Ponds: Five ponds have been restored and a new pond made. Most have been a great success, attracting all sorts of new insects and birds.
